CiscoからAndroid搭載のタブレット「Cisco Cius」を発表。

IPフォンのディスプレイ部分がクレードルになっていて取り外し可能な模様。

Cisco Ciusの仕様は以下の通り。

• Bluetooth対応
• 7インチタッチスクリーン
• 解像度800×600
• 720pHD 動画対応
• CPUはIntel Atom 1.6GHz
• 内蔵FLASHメモリは32GB
• 500万画素、HD動画対応カメラ
• 重さは520g

完全にビジネス用途で、Ciscoの「Cisco TelePresence」や「WebEx」も利用可能とのこと。

ワークスタイルを変えるデバイスかもしれないという意味で、個人的にもビジネス的にも非常に期待大。

IOS 12.4(20)T から、EPC (Embedded Packet Capture)という機能が 実装されました。
EPCとは、Ciscoルータ上でパケットをキャプチャする機能です。
障害解析などで、どうしてもパケットレベルまで調査しなければ分からない なんて時に便利ですので、今回はEPCを使い方を説明していこうかと。

まぁ、他ベンダーとしては当然の対応ですね。

JuniperなどはCRS-3発表後、即座にTeliaSoneraから自社製品のTX Matrix Plusを受注したリリースだしてますし。

CiscoがCRS-1を高速化したルータ「CRS-3」を発表しました。

16slotのシングルシャーシで4.48Tbps、マルチシャーシにすると最大322Tbpsの処理能力は、CRS-1の3.4倍（CRS-1は96Tbps）。

さらに省電力化も図られていおり、最大消費電力が60%削減されているようですね。
モジュール類はCRS-1との互換性もあるようです。

最近Ciscoが‘forever change the Internet’とまで言って煽っていたのはこのことでしたか。

Ciscoから今後のモバイルトラフィック予測が発表されています。

Cisco Visual Networking Index: Global Mobile Data Traffic Forecast Update, 2009-2014 [Visual Networking Index] – Cisco Systems

Globally, mobile data traffic will double every year through 2014, increasing 39 times between 2009 and 2014. Mobile data traffic will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 108 percent between 2009 and 2014, reaching 3.6 exabytes per month by 2014.

Almost 66 percent of the world’s mobile data traffic will be video by 2014. Mobile video will grow at a CAGR of 131 percent between 2009 and 2014. Mobile video has the highest growth rate of any application category measured within the Cisco VNI Forecast at this time (see Appendix A for applications details).

The Middle East and Africa will have the strongest growth of any region at 133 percent CAGR, followed by Asia Pacific at 119 percent and North America at 117 percent (see Appendix A for region details).

世界的なトラフィックの伸びは、2009年から2014年で108%の成長率のようです。

日本だけに限定してみると、以下のような伸びとなります。

2009年から2014年での伸び率は180%以上！

モバイルキャリアにとっては、これだけのトラフィックをさばくネットワークが必要になるということ。

ネットワークインフラはコモディティ化していて、すでに価格競争に入っている中で、トラフィック増に向けた投資をしていかなければいけないわけですなぁ。

Cisco Unveils the Cisco ASR 5000

CiscoからASR5000が発表されました。

といっても中身は以前買収したStarent NetworksのST40というルータだったりしますが。

つい最近買収したはずですが、早速製品を投入してきたようです。

ASR5000は、以下の機能をサポートしており、完全にモバイルキャリア向けのコアルータという位置づけのようです。

• セッションコントロールマネージャー

バルセロナで今月開催される、Mobile World CongressにCiscoも出展するようなので、それに合わせての発表なのでしょうか。

Cisco Security Advisory: Cisco IOS XR Software SSH Denial of Service Vulnerability

The SSH server implementation in Cisco IOS XR Software contains a vulnerability that an unauthenticated, remote user could exploit to cause a denial of service condition.

Ciscoからセキュリティ・アドバイザが公開されました。

内容は細工したSSHv2のパケットをIOS XRルータに送信することで、SSHサービスをクラッシュさせる脆弱性とのこと。

Workarpundは、ACLかMPPを使用するしか無いようですが、既に対処SMUがリリースされているようなので必要に応じて適用すれば良い。

ジョン・チェンバースのこのコトバが全てを物語っていますね。

最近のCiscoが買収している会社や、事業の方向性を見ているとネットワークベンダーという枠には収まらず、あくまでネットワークを中心に様々な方向へ事業を拡散させているように見えていました。

もともとシスコは，ルーター開発から事業を始めた。現在は事業領域を広げているが，一般には「ネットワーク機器ベンダー」と認識されている。そのシスコが「ネットワークの話をしない」というのは何やらなぞかけのような話だが，その心は「ネットワークはもはやあって当たり前。その前提で，社会の根深い問題を解決しよう」ということのようだ。
